Daily Scripture Study
A vital part of Scriptural Science and the Christian life is daily scripture study. We encourage all people, everywhere to take up the habit of studying in the scriptures everyday. The consistency of Daily Scripture Study will bring an undeniable power and joy into your lives and relationships with others. By way of encouragement, we have put together a few quotes and write-ups: read more.
As we approach the scriptures daily we should remember the goal: to know God (John 17:3). We have been invited to come unto Christ, to learn of him, and become purified through him. As such, our reading should be a spiritual experience and one in which we are seeking to become more like Christ. Our daily learning should strengthen our daily doing. Our service to others and love for others should make our reading meaningful and alive. The two, reading and doing, build on one another and make life more full.
As you consider your walk with God we invite you to consider making a real commitment to reading in your scriptures every day. Start with any small amount that you know you can consistently accomplish. Many start with a commitment of one verse a day or 5 minutes a day. Over time you can grow it. If you really want to unleash the power of the word in your life we recommend a daily habit of 30 to 60 minutes. It requires a real commitment but it also brings real power. We challenge you to try it for a month and see what happens.
Committing to a daily habit of reading 30 to 60 minutes in the scriptures really adds up. In just one year most readers could complete the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. After just three years many will have read for over 1,000 hours. The equivalent of working 6 months in a full-time job. We have found that maintaining such a habit is easier when Different Types of Reading are used from time to time. As such we are developing a variety of Scripture Research Tools to help people access the scriptures in various different ways. All of these tools focus on what we call Chapter Reading. For those who are interested, I share a little of my experience with Daily Scripture Study: My Reading Methods.
